ROCCAMANDOLFI CASTLE RESORT
Unbuilt - Ideas Competition

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Indyk Architects entered the competition of Roccomandolfi to create the Castle Resort-a new camping, explorative holiday experience within an ancient landscape of rich and varied history.

The Castle Resort beckons an exciting experience for all who visit, and those who will stay. It is for all ages and all types of people.

In order not to obscure or threaten the existing ruins, we trod lightly on the surrounds and within the castle precinct. All dwellings of the resort will be located on the east, west and northern sides of the steep mountain the castle sits atop.

Main Pathways follow existing trodden trails to the Castle. New branching paths following the contours, connect the main path to the new terraces and various extraordinary accommodation of Tree-houses, Forest Cabins, Ravine loft Cabins and the new Castle spa.

Several new perimeter paths allow visitors to circumnavigate the castle walls at a high and low level, reaching out to dramatic northern ravine views and the loft cabins.

The aspect of the site, the wonderful natural environment and the exhileration of location, can only add to the overall experience.

The dwellings created for the resort will be based on a prefabricated system of insulated timber panels clad in either zinc or timber.
