AIRPORT VIP LOUNGE
2019 (unbuilt)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Our concept for the VIP lounge is underpinned by the exploration of flight, and the Australian strength of landscape materials, flora and fauna.

This was a wonderful opportunity to showcase Australian designers- designers of furniture, lighting, and fabric design. Wholly Australian materials were used throughout, such as Black butt hardwood flooring, and vertical battens of Spotted Gum cladding. Australian Stone table tops were specified within Indyk Architects designed Joinery.

The use of the zinc cladding for the 'island bar' between rooms was a link to aeronautical design and study of the wing form. Developing ideas around the feather, the zinc morphed into the shingle like cladding, which was counterbalanced by the use of brass and timber throughout the lounges.

The Australian furniture designers showcased are; Ross Gardam- the Adapt range / Tom Skeehan - the Hoshi range / Tom Fereday --the Hull chair and ottoman / Jardan-The Camper sofa / Adam Goodrum--the Noon coffee tables

The Loop sofas are designed by Arper but fabricated in Australia

Fabrics for cushions by Injalak Arts centre-Arnhem Land / Acoustic panels fabric by Jean Baptiste Apuatimi from Tiwi Island-supplied by Wiillie Weston

Light fittings designed by Australian designers: Design studio-Alex Fitzpatrick / Tom Fereday
